What inspired you to create Feespearl?
"I was born in China’s “land of pearls,” a place that produces the vast majority of the world’s freshwater pearls. For me, pearls have never been cold or distant luxuries — they are woven into my childhood memories: the shimmer of the lake, the dedication of generations of pearl farmers.
When I came to Germany, I noticed a striking contrast: pearls were everywhere, yet few people knew their true origin. The jewelry on the market was either so expensive it felt out of reach, or of poor quality, lacking the beautiful natural luster. As a young woman, I couldn’t find a piece that was stylish, fairly priced, and made to be worn every day.
That’s when I thought: what if I could bring the pearls from my hometown together with European design and craftsmanship, and create a brand devoted to pearls for daily wear? Wouldn’t that allow more women to fall in love with pearls again?"
What is the significance of the brand name?
“Fee means ‘fairy’ in German, while ‘Xianzi’ in Chinese refers to a celestial being. In Chinese culture, fairies are more than symbols of beauty — they embody freedom, purity, and a life in harmony with nature. They stand for independence and inner strength.
Feespearl — the fairy’s pearl — is our way of capturing that spirit for modern women: pearls that represent freedom and elegance, designed to be worn every day.
Because we believe every pearl holds within it the unique strength and radiance of a woman.”
You’re all about fine pearl jewellery for the everyday rather than reserving it for specific occasions. Why?
“Every day is worth celebrating. With Feespearl, we wanted to challenge the stereotype that pearls are only for senior generation, vintage looks, or formal events. We believe that high-quality pearls also belong in everyday life — to brighten it and make it shine.
You don’t need to wait for a special moment, nor rely on the offerings of others. Our customers share this belief: 90% of our clientele are women, who purchase pearl jewellery either for themselves or for someone special. For them, pearls are self-expression, and a gift to treasure the present moment.”
Made in China or Made in Germany?
“I never shy away from the story behind our jewelry. Our designs are created by a joint Chinese-German team: pearls sourced from China’s lakes, metal components crafted by experienced Chinese workshops, and the final design refinements and hand assembly done in Germany. Each piece holds cross-cultural significance.
'Made in China' is evolving into a mark of quality, just as 'Made in Germany'. Chinese design and craftsmanship bring a unique cultural perspective, while our European team ensures every piece reflects local aesthetics and fulfils everyday needs. The factories we partner with also produce for internationally renowned brands, which guarantees reliable quality.”
